Can someone please tell me what the hell that was?

Last night I became aware of a large ( about the size of a medium egg) brown spider on my porch. It looked to be covered in little brown hairs. So, I took off my shoe, and hit it - get this - and what looked like hundreds of tiny little spiders went crawling around everywhere. It was like an ant pile. So I went and grabbed the bug spray (after jumping around mindlessly for 10 seconds) and after I sprayed, they all died. But the I decided to take a closer look at the big spider, and it wasnt so big or hairy anymore. It had been covered with those tiny spiders. Can someone tell me what the hell?? What type of spider was that?

Can someone please tell me what the hell that was?
Sounds to me like it was a wolf spider. Here is a site to check it out. ---%26gt; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_Spider They bite and are poinsonous so be careful. I live in Northern California and we have them all over! They scare crap out of me. I do the %26quot;squeal and dance%26quot; when I see them and yell for my hubby. Yea its a total girl thing to do but they are really gross! I shudder at the thought.

They really come out in the summer, I would start a pest control service that can spray for them. Nasty little guys.
Reply:I don%26#039;t know what kind of spider that was, but that sounds disgusting...I hate spiders...
Reply:OH I have a bad case of the creepies after reading that!
Reply:I%26#039;m not sure what kind of spider it was. However I do know that when a spider hatches a egg, there are thousands of baby spiders that come out.
Reply:haha

happened to me b4 too

same thing

the spider had eggs on its back

babies hatched and stayed there

jumped off when their mommy was murdered lol

i think it was a wolf spider lol =]
Reply:i don%26#039;t know what kind it was but when spiders have little ones some of them make a pouch and put their eggs in it. then when the baby spiders hatch they come out of the pouch. thats the best i can explain hope it helps.
Reply:That story gave me the creeps.

The spider was carrying her offspring on her.

YUCK!!!!
Reply:Did it look like a blackwidow but brown? The brown spiders that look like a blackwidow is a Wood spider.
Reply:Some spiders and most scorpions carry their babies on their backs for a few days. Don%26#039;t know why, probably to protect them and teach them to feed. I am not sure what type of spider it was but I would definately look it up on the net under North American spiders (if that is where you are) go to Ask.com, sometimes they will have listings on Entomology the study of bugs and such. Seems a little creepy to me too! But that is nature and take time to learn about it. Sorry you had to mess up your shoe. I hope they weren%26#039;t a nice nice pair.
Reply:I have no idea what kind of spider it was but it was carring babies
Reply:Ive seen one like that before, i do not know what it is but it was really creepy
Reply:Maybe it was just a spiders egg.
