I just moved to Florida and we have TONS of sandburs in our yard. How do I get rid of them?????

I have read that pulling them up would help but I have NO idea what the weed looks like to pull it up. Our yard was obviously not very well maintained by the people who lived here last. We only rent so I am not putting the $ into having the yard redone. Is there anything I can maybe mix with a grass seed and lay grass and %26quot;it%26quot; down together?

Any help would be appriciated. We have to put shoes on to walk to the hose!!!

Thanks all!

I just moved to Florida and we have TONS of sandburs in our yard. How do I get rid of them?????
I won%26#039;t repeat the other good advice here, but we also had alot of success from hanging an old sack behind the mower and dragging it as we cut the grass. It picks up alot of the sand spurs and helps give a little relief while the sprays and mowing are doing their work. Good Luck with it:)
Reply:Allow them to begin to go to seed. It%26#039;s the females you want to target, the base of their stems are slightly purple. They grow radially out from the mother plant. When you can see the seeds, gently pull the runners up toward the center of the plant, from seed head toward stem - they break easily, and root along the ground, a preservation of species thing. When you have all the runners up and locate the main root mass, pull out. Takes time, but because of their radial growth habit you%26#039;ll find there are less to pull than you first thought.

Mowing is NoT the solution, they%26#039;re perennials and will continue to come back. Weed killer will only cause them to produce an overabundance of seeds in order to procreate the species. Pulling is the best way. I can walk barefoot in my front yard now, took 2 seasons, but it can be done.

Here%26#039;s a visual, not the greatest, but you%26#039;ll get the idea:

Reply:Pulling plants out by hand will work but is too tedious for most people. Stripping off or rototilling under heavily infested areas and replacing them with fresh sod is another way to take care of the problem. But the new sod will have to be maintained well to prevent burs from coming in again.
Reply:Most broad leaf sprays or grannuals will do the trick used a couple times a year. The burs your walking on now are last years crop..that tells you how long it%26#039;s going to take to totally get rid of them.

luck
Reply:1. in February or march out out a pre-emergence treatment, this will help keep seeds from germinating.

2. Treat with MSMA when you see sand burs coming up

3. Keep mowed short don%26#039;t let them go to seed

4. Build up your soil with good compost, sand burs like soils that are in poor condition.

What is the problem with the brakes?

I own a Maruti 800. Its done about 37000 kms. The brakes are not that great. I%26#039;m not at all cofident especially when 4 people are sitting and i%26#039;m going at speeds more than 80. I%26#039;ve taken it to many mechanics and they all say that its fine. I%26#039;ve to put my hand brakes to the last notch. And I find some black coloured oil deposits on the front right wheel of my car.

What is the cost of a new set of brake pads and shoes?

What is the problem with the brakes?
You describe a leaking brake cylinder. The oil then gets on the brake linings and reduces the friction during braking.. Friction is braking so in essence you have little or no braking on that wheel. Also depending on the leak you would not be able to build good hydraulic pressure to the other brakes if you have one leaking.

You need to get those brakes checked and repaired !!!!!!

I am not familuar with your type of car, but it can%26#039;t be all that exspensive.
Reply:You have a leak in the front brake. Take it to the shop and they will be able to fix it. Since it is leaking the brake fluid is lubricating the brake shoes and they are not grabbing, thats why your brakes arent working so good. Either the caliper, if you have disc, or brake seals are leaking in the drum.
Reply:I loved The Brakes first album but after the guitarist left things have gone down hill.
Reply:The oil deposits may be from a split CV boot on your right front wheel drive axle. If the car doesn%26#039;t stop like it did when you bought it, besides having the brakes checked as you did for wear, it%26#039;s possible that the rear brakes aren%26#039;t doing their share of the braking because the hydraulic pressure regulator to the rear brakes isn%26#039;t working right. I would have a knowledgeable technician check the rear brake line pressures.
Reply:It%26#039;s most likely hydraulic fluide not oil, and if thats the cas then your brakes are leeking wich will cose lost of pressure to the pistons pushing the brake caliber. In another case it can also be oil leeking from your lubricant hose or your engine has a small leek from the headers. I recomend you bring in your car to a certified technician in the brand of your car.

How long do shoes last?

It depends on what kind, what brand, and how often you wear them.

How long do shoes last?
I wear Checkered Vans Slip Ons.

I have had them since I was 16 years old.

I am now 23 and I still wear em. Holes and all.

They have lasted a LONG time.

They are soooooooo comfty LOL

I assume Dancing shoes would last just as long.
Reply:I have 2 pairs for each style of Ballroom - a competition pair, that looks new and pretty, and a practice pair that used to be my competition pair but now is a bit dirty. They last about 10 months in each role.
Reply:I%26#039;ve used pointe shoes in one day. My new shoes though I%26#039;ve been using for a few months and are still strong.

Ballet flats can last up to a year. My character and tap shoes are still going strong for three years.

It all depends on how long you dance and how well you take care of your shoes and what type of material makes them.
Reply:Depends on how much you wear them and the quality of the shoe!
Reply:u need 2 keep them clean and don%26#039;t bend them the wrong way.
Reply:That depends on how many miles you walk on/in them and how you take care of them. Also, the material they are made of.
Reply:that depends on how often you wear them. I demolish my shoes because there%26#039;s some days that i don%26#039;t really take them off. ballet shoes should last you at least a year though. pointe shoes only have an 8 hour life span so those are different. taps will last you awhile, jazz are just like ballet shoes so they should last you awhile, but again it all depends on how often you use them.
Reply:tap shoes usually last until you outgrow them or until the screws are falling off and that will prolly take like eh...say maybe 3 years w/o out growing them?? maybe 2. ya thats right. mine usually only last a year cuz my feet grow every year. jazz shoes last until they get holes in them like in the toe. and until you outgrow them. like a year and a half depending on the brand and style..im talking about capezio brand shoes that are like the jazz boot style. ballet shoes are the same way as jazz. pointe shoes last until they are too small or the toes give out and the wood inside breaks...about 3 years w/o feet growing. lyrical foot paws last until the bottoms break which is about 2 years to 4 years tops. HOPE THIS HELPS! remember all this depends on the brand, style, and type or shoe.
Reply:It depends on what kind of shoes. Tap shoes and ballet slippers you can wear them until they%26#039;re worn out:) Pointe shoes on the other hand has a shorter shelf life. It could be a few months or a few weeks depending on how your dance schedule is.
Reply:Depends on how old you are if your feet are still growing, how much you walk in them, how well you take care of them
Reply:It depends on what type of shoes you are wearing. It also depends on the duration you wear them and how strong your feet are. For instance, if you are talking about pointe shoes and you have cvery strong feet and arches then your point shoes won%26#039;t last you nearly as long as someone whose feet are more weak than yours. Hope this helps.
Reply:It depends on you . if you liked a shose you will try to keep it with you for a long time.
Reply:as long as you still have feet

How to heal a rolled ankle quickly?

I have rolled my ankles many times but they were and shoes and they healed quickly. This one i had flip flops on and my ankle gave out. It happened last night and i have school tomarrow and i can barely walk. I dont know how im going to be able to walk 3 flights of stairs when i cant walk. Is there a quick way to help it heal just so i can walk. No RICE method because it takes too long.

How to heal a rolled ankle quickly?
Foot in the air. Ice for 30 minutes. Warm for 40 minutes. Stay off it tonight, and wrap with a tensor or ace bandage tomorrow. When you wrap your ankle, make sure that the bandage goes under your foot and then around your ankle, hold your ankle in the flexed position while you wrap. Stay off it as much as possible. Unwrap, rub thoroughly but gently, and rewrap every four hours to maintain circulation.

Sadly, there is no other way to cure it.

What do you think of a guy in his 20s owning 19 ties?

I am 21 years old and have 19 ties already.

I admit I am probably the biggest straight male shopaholic in the world so I am not shocked. Also I do dress up a lot because I like to dress nice and I worked in an office last summer. I get them at places like Macys and Express.

So are ties to me like shoes are to some girls?

What do you think of a guy in his 20s owning 19 ties?
That is really good that you can admit you like shopping. I mean most girls would admire that...lol. But yes that is a really good thing...ties on young guys can be HOOTT!! So expecting you have good style sense keep buyiing more because their hottt..
Reply:There is nothing wrong with you having 19 ties especially if you work in an office and if your career is going to require you to wear a tie and suit...you go! my cousin has over 150 ties and i have no problem with that! your tie obsession is like my handbag obsession....but only the best!
Reply:there is nothing hotter than a man who dresses like that its so sophisticated. go head boy......
Reply:Hi there u shouldnt worry bout what other ppl think. If u like the ties keep the ties. But wear them cos u like them not cos ur trying to impress or be more mature. The important thing is do what u want not what other ppl want u o do.
Reply:definitely! You go boy!
Reply:Hot. As long as they%26#039;re good ties. Otherwise, thats weird to own 19 ugly-*** ties no matter how old you are.
Reply:haha my teacher had like 200 ties never wore the same one in a school year
Reply:it depends on your occupation. If you work at like Mc Donalds, then thats kinda odd. But if you wotk at abig corperation or a fancy resturant than thats ok
Reply:I have a lot of ties also so I am going to be biased in telling you its totally fine. It may be comparable to girls with their shoes, but one obvious difference there is ties take up a fraction of the space that shoes take up and they also tend to be a lot cheaper. So I wouldn%26#039;t even say its an over excessive amount of ties.

1) It is good to have a choice of tie to go with different shirts

2) If wearing ties often you don%26#039;t want to be seen always wearing the same tie

I think it is refreshing to see that a young person is wearing ties, it seems to have been a dying fashion this last decade. In fact I say 19 ties is not enough, get shopping for more :)
Reply:I think you don%26#039;t need 19 ties.
Reply:I would say yes. I just sold ten pairs of shoes, threw away three pairs, and still own about 15 pairs, and I%26#039;m 25. At least you have a job. =)
Reply:If ties to you are like shoes to me, hun you are doing GREAT!!!

Hi, my name is Susan and I have a shoe addiction. lol

At the ripe age of 15 I owned well over 100 pairs of shoes. Not exaggerating one bit. I know, I know, that%26#039;s horrible. But I did have my own little job and I did support my own habit.

Back to the ties...that is wonderful. I obviously don%26#039;t wear ties but found myself fighting the urge to buy one myself just the other day. It was Sponge Bob...don%26#039;t ask. lol So I can easily see where it would be easy to accumulate a small collection.

I think ties are attractive. It shows a mature side. Keep buyin%26#039; baby.
Reply:go get some more! 19 ties is enough but if you really wanna stand out make sure you dont repeat wearing in 2 mos!
Reply:Apparently. I collect even more earrings than shoes - I have well over a hundred pairs of earrings!

Now, you must do inventory.

1] how many of each color ties do you have?

brown

red

maroon

orange

yellow

green

blue

navy

purple

gray

black

multicolor

2] Are any of them obscene? Throw it out!

Light up? - hide it

Ragged - get rid of it, or re-cycle it

3] Do you have any interesting ties? Any with something besides solids and stripes? Any for holidays [ gotta have a Christmas tie! ]

Make sure you get some special interest ties - like fishing, golfing, martinis, whatever you like. Girls like guys with ties - it gives them something to talk about.

My husband has 50+ ties [ when he left the military in %26#039;94, he had 4 ties! ]

My Dad had a rack that held 12 DOZEN TIES! Completely full, mind you. You have about 30 years to catch up with him.
Reply:Yes I think so. There is nothing wrong with having variety. That%26#039;s why I have about 70 pairs of shoes...lol But, I think you need 21 ties to make things right!
Reply:i guess they are...but if u work in an office like that its ok.......

How do I let go of my past? How can I "fix" my attitude & personality?

Last night I watched a shoe on a local channel, a boy %26amp; a girl (both in their early 20%26#039;s) were talking about such issues as at what age to have sex, or protection, or Baby Mommas, about commitment or being %26quot;stuck%26quot;. Anyway, the girl was just amazing, her opinion was exactly how I felt %26amp; overall she came across as a young woman that knows herself %26amp; that made her very attractive to me (in a non sexual way) I was just like wow she is so awsome! So she talked about her first time %26amp; how she was 18 %26amp; she talked to her Mom about it %26amp; so on %26amp; I started thinking about my train wreck childhood, abut my past, about all the mistakes I made %26amp; how they have contributed to my current state of mind %26amp; life. I was sad because I wish I had a glow like that, I wish I didnt have all this baggage %26amp; this sad traumatic past, I wish I could talk about good things instead of all these sad things I have been through. So do you know how you can become a better person %26amp; build a positive image of an intriguing woman

How do I let go of my past? How can I %26quot;fix%26quot; my attitude %26amp; personality?
You are already on your way. I am a mature fellow, wife, children %26amp; grand children, and I seem to be always on the lookout to %26quot;refine%26quot; myself. (that aging with grace thing). It is a minute by minute, day by day process. It is also a situational process. In other words if you find yourself involved in a challenging social situation and it is one that you have experienced before, you may have not liked your %26quot;reaction%26quot; or %26quot;feelings%26quot; you had the last time. It may be an excellent opportunity to %26quot;redefine yourself%26quot;. Life is filled with those opportunities and that is when you present the %26quot;YOU%26quot; that you wish others to see. Of course, don%26#039;t be surprised if someone else doesn%26#039;t see the you that you are trying to project, (unpredictable human nature), just be patient. As far as your past is concerned, try not to be an %26quot;open book%26quot;. It will always be with you, but, you should control it and not the other way around. I wish I could have been better as a child, but, I wasn%26#039;t. Nobody cares, so I am polite, and as nice as possible without being neurotic. (I hope) I like being like that, my family likes me that way,and they enjoy my company. Actually they think it%26#039;s funny the way I try not being angry. You should read about other peoples lives and it may give you a better understanding of who and why we are in this %26quot;culture%26quot; (there are so many factors). I have a friend who had a %26quot;sad%26quot; childhood. Ignored by his parents, had to be taken in by neighbors on a day by day basis. He mentions it sometimes, but, mostly he talks about how happy he is and how great things are going now that he is close to retirement, ( I really just want to tell him to shut the **** up ), but, he is my freind so I just tell him I%26#039;m happy for him. Bottom line, nobody is perfect. If you want to strive for it that is good, just be realistic if you fall short from time to time, and don%26#039;t be hard on yourself. You can be who ever you choose to be. Just remember, nobody likes a Whiner. Dont%26#039; forget the body language! Good luck!
Reply:You let go of your past by concentrating on the present...and on the many positive things that might be happening in your life. On the many positive values and attitudes you have.

By doing something you love doing. By helping others - only then you might realize just how lucky you are. You are aware of how your past has shaped you, and your present position...but use it to your advantage!

And as far as the show is concerned - they took the girl precisely because of how she appeals to the audience. They even guided her in answering the questions, under the right lighting, with the right make -up.

Even if her life might of been %26quot;easier%26quot; than yours she might be a wreck now. Good memories unfortunately don%26#039;t guarantee a good future.
Reply:To let go of your past: Get a pad of paper and start writing. Acknowledge what happened and how you feel. Give yourself time to processes the facts and the feelings. Accept yourself and your feelings. Then say, OK, it happened. Let%26#039;s move on. Forgive yourself and be gentle with yourself; then make some new choices. Forgiveness means you don%26#039;t bring it up anymore. Once you pour it out on paper, cry about it, acknowledge it, let it go. you can%26#039;t change the past, only your perception of it. Once you acknowledge and feel your own feelings, you will feel like you%26#039;ve lost all your baggage. You just need to take all the time you need to go through this process. When you are done, you will have that glow. I promise.
Reply:First you need to stop feeling sorry for yourself and look for ways to overcome your %26quot;poor pitiful me%26quot; attitude. I know very few people that have had a perfect childhood yet they are well balanced and happy. We%26#039;ve all made mistakes so take responsibility for yours and learn from them. Stop placing the blame on anyone but yourself.
Reply:jsut remember this that afetr every dark night there is a shiny clean day.

the same was with me.but i forget my past and i started living with positve attitudes.

remember the winner always has hurddles.

the looser have no hurddle so he loose

so dont be dissapoint

we accpet limited dissapointment but we should not loose unlimited hopes.be brave

wat so every gone means gone

buck up n start thinking of new life
